Sanjana Bhambhani reflects on her family’s loss of Sindhi, a regional language from Sindh, Pakistan, due to the Partition of British India. In 1947, her grandmother, fleeing violence, left behind her homeland and mother tongue. As the language faded among new generations, Bhambhani explores efforts to revive it, acknowledging the challenges in both India and Pakistan. Despite the cultural and linguistic divide, Sindhi communities abroad, like in the UK, continue to seek connections, embracing the language as a link to their heritage.
