Astronomers have discovered a supermassive black hole, RACS J0320-35, from just 920 million years after the Big Bang, growing at 2.4 times the theoretical Eddington limit. Using Chandra X-ray data, researchers found it devours 300–3,000 solar masses of matter per year, challenging current models of black hole growth. The findings suggest early universe black holes may grow faster than expected, offering a key opportunity to study how the first black holes formed and evolved.
