He is suspected of creating a script to bypass internal security measures. The Metropolitan Police’s cybercrime unit is leading the inquiry. Meta terminated the employee, notified affected users, and upgraded security systems. The individual remains on police bail while the investigation continues. This follows previous data security issues at Meta, including a 2024 fine in Ireland for storing user passwords in plaintext.
