Life-changing eye implant helps blind patients read again

Five blind patients in London regained sight after receiving a 2mm Prima microchip implant under the retina. The device, paired with camera glasses, sends images to the brain, restoring central vision. In trials, 27 of 32 patients could read again, improving by five lines on an eye chart. One, 70-year-old Sheila Irvine, said it was “out of this world.” The implant could soon help millions with macular degeneration, pending NHS approval.
