A new space race is underway in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), just above Earth’s atmosphere. VLEO satellites face more drag and shorter lifespans due to atmospheric resistance, but advancements in air-breathing electric propulsion could enable them to "fly forever." Companies are developing these satellites for ultra-HD Earth imaging and fast communication. With applications in military, agriculture, and space internet, the market for VLEO satellite services could reach $15bn by 2032.
