Archaeologists in Peru uncovered 2,300-year-old human remains near the Puemape Temple Complex, some showing evidence of sacrifice. The burials are unusual: individuals were placed face down, with skull fractures, ropes around their necks, and hands tied behind their backs, and lacked grave goods. Dating to 400–200 B.C., these sacrifices likely occurred after the temple was abandoned. Ongoing analysis, including DNA studies, aims to identify the victims and explore associated artifacts.
