China’s Changan Nevo A06 EV will use the world’s first mass-produced sodium-ion (Na-ion) battery, developed by CATL. Tested in extreme cold down to –50 °C, it retains over 90% capacity at –40 °C, outperforming traditional lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. Na-ion batteries are cheaper, safer, and less dependent on lithium supply. CATL also unveiled fast-charging, long-lasting 5C lithium-ion packs, highlighting a “dual-chemistry” future for EVs.
